Legislative Reform Order Clocks

Legislative Reform Orders (LROs) are a specific type of delegated legislation that the Government can use to remove or reduce burdens that result directly or indirectly from legislation, or to promote principles of better regulation. They are made under terms set out in the Legislative and Regulatory Reform Act 2006 and are subject to scrutiny by a special committee in each House.

Follows the calculation style Bicameral instruments (clock stops if both Houses rise).

There are 4 clocks.

  1. LRO - Affirmative preapproval period ends

    40 days from Laid before the House of Commons (House of Commons) to Affirmative pre-approval period ends.

  2. LRO - Objection period ends

    40 days from Laid before the House of Commons (House of Commons) to Objection period ends.

  3. LRO - Procedure determination period ends

    30 days from Laid before the House of Commons (House of Commons) to Procedure determination period ends.

  4. LRO - Super-affirmative pre-approval period ends

    60 days from Laid before the House of Commons (House of Commons) to Super-affirmative pre-approval period ends.
