Motion to stop the instrument becoming law tabled

A statutory instrument laid under the draft affirmative procedure cannot be made into law (signed by the minister) if the House of Lords approves a motion to stop the instrument becoming law.

Scope note: Will usually appear as the House 'declines to approve the instrument' and will appear in the LBP after laying of an instrument or as an amendment to the approval motion upon scheduling on a debate.
