Motion that the treaty should not be ratified not called Business items
A step of type Business step.
In the House of Commons, Members can table a motion to not ratify a treaty subject to the Constitutional Reform and Governance Act 2010 procedure. A motion to not ratify, if tabled and passed within 21 days (Period A - subject to extension) of the treaty being laid, could delay ratification due to a second period (Period B) of scrutiny starting. A motion not having been called is when the motion is on the Order Paper for that day but did not occur. It may or may not be called on a future date.
